I can’t think of anything more important than storytelling.
My obsession with storytelling started when I was an elementary school student, swallowing Lloyd Alexander books whole in one sitting. This led to the inevitable desire to write my own short stories during class instead of paying attention to my teachers.
Then, I got a Playstation. I had always loved casual games like Prince of Persia, Pitfall, and the (merciless) Sega Genesis Disney games, but it wasn’t until Playstation that I realized the great storytelling opportunity in games.
Now, I’ve managed to do enough side quests to get a BS in Digital Entertainment and Game Design, and an M.A. in Philosophy. With these powers combined — enhanced by my 20 years studying creative writing, and 10 years of teaching English — my main quest is to share what I’ve learned about storytelling through the lens of game narratives for those who love storytelling and, perhaps, want to write their own tales.
